Who would have thought of coming up with the idea of a shower connected to a car, and heated by solar power? A shower which can be used by surfers, climbers, bikers, hikers, in fact anyone who is fond of outdoor pursuits.
Someone has. To be precise, a man by the name of Joel Cotton, who lives in Colorado, US.
Joel’s invention is named the Road Shower, and is described as a ‘Rack Mounted Solar Shower – Pressurized Hot Water On The Go’.
A good product must solve problems for it to be really worthwhile. So, how about something that uses no electricity or fuel – good for the environment as no energy is used, utilizes what many cars already have – a roof rack to mount the Road Shower on, is easy to fill, and is built to last.
Basically, the Road Shower contains 5 gallons of water which can be used for a variety of purposes, showering, washing the boat down after use, hosing the bikes etc. Some plus points are:
Easy to mount: Included hardware for Yakima or Thule racks.
Tough. Made from powder coated high quality aluminum.
Non toxic: You can fill it with drinking water.
The Road Shower is already in production, and has been taken up by several retail outlets. The owner also has an online presence.
Raising Funds to Help Expand
Joel has chosen to ask for funding for his Road Shower via Crowdfunding with Kickstarter so that the opportunity is there for the general public to contribute to his efforts to expand the business. I think he’ll be successful by the end of his campaign in reaching the $15,000 target.
