Thanks to the recession and house prices not showing any sign of going back up at the minute, many people are stuck in their current homes but starting to get bored and either wanting to move into a different house of improve their existing house.
One of the most popular home improvements at the minute is the addition of a conservatory or orangery to the house. As well as creating valuable extra space, they create a truly unique space which merges the indoors with outdoors. This unusual space can be used for a whole range of different purposes and is doesn’t have to just be used as a space to grow plants in.
One of the most common locations for a conservatory is off the kitchen. This allows you to create a beautiful large, bright and airy space for cooking and preparing food in. As many older houses had rather small kitchens, this can help to really transform a house and help change cooking from a chore to an enjoyable experience.
Dining Room Conservatories
If you already have a large enough kitchen, you could still have the conservatory constructed on the kitchen to create a large kitchen dining area. This would allow you to sit eating your meals in the sunshine without worrying about bugs landing on your food or having to drag out the garden furniture.
Rather than having the conservatory off the kitchen, you could use it to create an attractive lounge room for the whole family to relax in. Through the summer the doors can be opened up, creating an area for people to relax in the sunshine, while being protected from the wind.
We all know that children love to play in the garden and get dirty. A conservatory can provide an “in between” step, allowing the children to go into the garden and play, then come back into the conservatory to play, without carrying dirt through the rest of the house.
Adding a conservatory to your home will not only provide you with the space that you need now, but it will also add value to your house so that when you decide to sell the house you will be able to sell it for a bit more. With that said, once you have your beautiful new conservatory on your house, you probably won’t want to even think about moving house!
