With hardwood flooring becoming more and more popular, the needs for rugs are becoming more and more popular. Hardwood floors can be really beautiful, but in the winter time, they can be really cold. When you’ve had enough of cold feet, you’ll be ready to purchase a rug.

When you’re ready to purchase your rugs, you will want to choose a rug that is going to last. You’ll need a rug that can hold up to the wear and tear that family traffic can inflict. A rug that is made with wool is going to be your best bet for longevity. Some say that a wool rug becomes more beautiful over time. When the fibres of the wool are walked on, they tend to develop their own patina over time being subject to light and being walked on.

Try to purchase a traditional rug that is within your budget, you’ll find that there are many rugs that you can choose from and some come with a very high price tag attached to them. The rule of thumb for purchasing a good rug is that it should cost about as much as your sofa. If that’s out of your price range, you can opt for a cheaper rug or you can save until you have the money needed to purchase the rug of your choice.

You may want to choose a rug that is family friendly and offer ease of cleaning. If you have both children and pets, a less expensive rug that can be easily cleaned may be more beneficial to you than a rug that is going to last for years and years and that is way out of your price range. If it’s not going to clean up well, chances are, it’s not the perfect rug for your home.

When trying to decide what size rug you need, consider purchasing one that is slightly smaller than the flooring area that is exposed after your furniture is arranged. You may prefer to place the front legs of your sofa, love seat or other chairs on the edge of the rug.

If the colours of your furnishings and walls are a neutral colour, you can choose a rug that is of bold colours to help bring a breathe of fresh air to your room. You might then choose some of the colours in the rug to apply other decorating options to your room such as embellishments, adornments or even your window dressings.

Choosing the shape of your rug is important also, if your room is long and rectangular, you’ll want to choose a rug that is long and rectangular. If your have your furnishings in a particular room arranged into a circle or semi-circle, you might choose to use a round rug. If you are choosing a rug for you dining area, choose by the shape of your dining table. If your table is rectangular, choose a rectangular rug, if it’s round, choose a round rug, should your table be square, you can choose to use a hexagon shaped rug to accent the room.

There is no doubt that you will choose the rugs that are pleasing to your eye and that are going to compliment your home to it’s fullest.
